Pussy Cat Dolls ft. Snoop Dogg - 'Buttons'

Album: Buttons

I blame Hege for my current choice of music (Fergie, PCD, etc.), and in my defense I can only say I am only listening to what she plays in class - though, to her credit, she hasn't yet included Backstreet Boys ("...they're so cute!") or Britney Spears.

On the other hand, I've more respect for the Pussy Cat Dolls now that I've learned they were originally a burlesque troupe.

... also, I'm in love with Shakira's hips.

Madonna - 'Erotica' (SEX Version)

Album: Erotica

Quote of the day, courtesy of Hege during warm-up stretches: "Don't touch yourself! You can touch yourself when you do the split, but not now!"

Try figuring that out without context.

(Heh heh heh!)

Blossom Dearie - 'Put On A Happy Face'

Album: Kissing Jessica Stein OST

I think one of the keys to my happiness must be solving logical problems.

Which is strange, because I'm mostly ... not logical.

Max Sedgley - 'Slowly'

Album: Slowly

Better late than never, they say (whoever they are).

But 'better' doesn't mean you won't wanna kick somebody's ass or bang someone's head against the wall ...

Like, for example, your own.

eels - 'Somebody Loves You'

Album: Shootenanny
One more Saturday
All alone through the night
You’ve got to be sure
When you turn out that light
That it’s going to turn on again
You’ve got to be your good friend

Somebody loves you
And you’re gonna make it through

eels - 'Somebody Loves You'

Album: Shootenanny

This is one of those times, makes me wish I could ran back into your arms, makes me miss you so desperately I can't breathe for the vacuum in my body.

Makes me imagine taking a blade to my arms just so I could concentrate on an outside pain and not the ache inside.

I suppressed a breakdown on the bus by visualizing just that.

I will be my good friend; I'm gonna make it though.

Leisha Hailey & Katherine Moennig - 'Q & A Podcast, Part 2'

Source: OurChart.com

Lately, I've been plagued by the inability to differentiate between genders - girls who look like boys who look like girls, and boys who look like girls who look like boys.

Which is great - because, come on, I may be stupid, but even an idiot would know better than to base attraction on gender.

No?

Meena Kumari - 'Tukre Tukre'

Album: I Write, I Recite

(No idea what's happened to the somebody who loves you; no idea if you're gonna make it through ...)

I'm down, and there's no love to be found; need to find the playground in my mind.

Meena Kumari - 'Chand Tanha Hai'

Album: I Write, I Recite

Sometimes I wonder if the moon is lonely, since she never fits in with the stars or clouds in the sky.

A more - or less (depending on where you stand) - painful change needs to be made.

Skinny - 'Failure'

Album: The Weekend

Been sitting in front of my laptop these coupla days, hours at a stretch, trying to create that playlist of dance-y-trippy-chill-out tracks for Chih - to no bloody avail. Kept leaning towards the trip-hop and chill-out, and can't find enough faster-paced tracks to gel the Cory Lee and Sister Nancy songs to the mix.

Feeling too misanthropic to generate any enthusiasm for tonight's movie with Germ and Sherm.

Daughter Darling - 'Things Untold'

Album: Sweet Shadows

Weekdays are better: less energy and time to feel depressed and miserable, and wonder.

Friday, April 20, 2007

Cory Lee - 'Goodbye'

Album: What A Difference A Day Makes

You know, I seem to attract people who like attention - guess I make a pretty good audience.

Thing is, these people leave me drained and desperate for solitude.

Sarah McLachlan - 'Dirty Little Secret' (Thievery Corporation remix)

Album: Versions

I discovered a bruise on the right side of my left wrist.

Wednesday, April 18, 2007

Transglobal Underground - 'Khalghi Stomp' (Thievery Corporation remix)

Album: Versions

I got really irritated when I saw the woman with a pair of pierced lobes ... and a single stud in her right (outermost) helix.

For any written works, 'orphans' are a big no-no; the same goes for piercings.

It's just me being an idiot again, but I really can't stand it when I see an orphan helix-piercing in a pair of otherwise near-virgin ears (i.e. with only pierced lobes) - although a single stud anywhere on a pair of ears is fine.

Go figure.

Carmen McCrae - 'Just A Little Lovin'' (GB Remix)

Album: Atlantiquity

I don't know why, but even since I got her last evening, my as-yet-unnamed titanium 16g 20mm banana-bell, I keep thinking of Anna (P.) when I look at her.

She's streamlined (4mm top ball, 6mm clear jeweled bottom ball) compared to Kiran/Narik, and understated: beautiful - just like Anna.

So I guess that's what I'll call her.

Shirley Bassey - 'Where Do I Begin' (awayTeam Mix)

Album: The L Word: Season 2 OST

Her name is Adeline (and her Rottie's name is Rachel; it used to be Puppy)!

Doggie didn't react aggressively towards Rachel - that's a good sign, right? - and Rachel's a real sweetheart.

Inks on both biceps (one of which an armband), and left wrist.

Even if my brain didn't freeze up, there's just no tactful way to ask for her number, right?

My luck, she's very, very, very straight.

=(

eels - 'trouble with dreams'

Album: blinking lights and other revelations

i'm walking down a lonely road
clear to me now but i was never told
trouble with dreams is you never know
when to hold on and when to let go

[...]

this is the life that i must lead now
crossing fingers and wiping brow
trouble with dreams is you can't pretend
something with no beginning has an end

Fat Freddy's Drop - 'Wandering Eye'

Album: Based On A True Story

I think it was the dinner I had - fish and chips, and a pavlova for dessert - that I dreamed what I had: back in Welly, school, Salamanca Road, responding to Alwyn's resigned "I've been here five years ..." with "I wish I were you ..."

Didn't want to wake, but I had to.

And I did.

Two years ago.

Fisher - 'Nothing Is Real'

Album: Uppers and Downers

Learned my favorite band's CDs have been dropped by (prolly) the only local distributor: shocked, distraught; bought Bottle Rockets.

Dinner with my lovely ladies.

I feel ... wondrous ...

I think.

(But definitely very, very, very tired.)

I want more.

I want you.

Thursday, April 12, 2007

Fisher - 'Dirty Girl'

Album: Uppers and Downers

Ran into her again! (Third time lucky?)

Not having a crush, and it's not about the tat(s) - it's not - but I do so wanna get to know her beyond small talk about our bitches.

I think she could so be my type ...

Wednesday, April 11, 2007

Angela Aki - 'This Love'

Album: Blood+ OST

I try so very hard to do nice things for you, things to make you smile and make you happy; yet, no matter how hard I try, however much effort I put in, the things I do seem insignificant, trivial - sometimes even detrimental - when compared to the things you'd done that touched me.

Why is it that whatever I do is never enough, that I'm never good enough?

Tuesday, April 10, 2007

Melissa Etheridge - 'Breathe'

Album: Lucky

She's right, you know.

I guess that's why I haven't breathed, lived, all this while; why I've been holding my breath.

I need a friend.

Monday, April 09, 2007

Bernadette Peters - 'Unexpected Song'

Album: Song and Dance OST

Depending on where one stands, it's either a buy-out ... or it's a sell-out.

Merger, my ass.

Then I mused, maybe marriage mightn't be too far from that - for most people ...

Sunday, April 08, 2007

Hajime Chitose - 'Tsuki Wo Nusumu'

Album: Kataritsugu Koto

Every time my dad flies off, I feel the onus of looking after the family, my mom, fall squarely on my shoulders.

It always feels as heavy.

Saturday, April 07, 2007

Betty - 'The L Word Theme'

Album: The L-Word: Season 2 OST

One word: withdrawal.

Friday, April 06, 2007

Kinnie Starr - 'Alright'

Album: The L Word OST

  1. Happy 2nd, Fern.

  2. Happy 26th, you. Hope you're back in Singapore already.

  3. Marty breaks Bernie Parent's record for most wins in a single season by a goaltender (eatcha heart out, Philly!), and

  4. Devils take top seed in the Atlantic division, second-seeded in the Eastern Conference (let's go, Devils!)
  5. .
  6. I found a veritible trove of treasure.

  7. Happiness is in found in finding.

Thursday, April 05, 2007

Phillip Glasser & Betsy Cathcart - 'Somewhere Out There'

Album: An American Tail OST

It's a completely different moon here.

And I'm a completely different type of touch-me-not.

Wednesday, April 04, 2007

Frankie Valli - 'Grease'

Album: Grease OST

Went back to the old neighborhood to consult the family doctor and saw two familiar faces: one definitely so, the other more vaguely so.

I think I went to either nursery school or kindie with them.

For a moment, I was amazed just by the fact they still live in the same neighborhood after all these years.

No doubt I'd be one of those who stay put too, given half the chance.

Tuesday, April 03, 2007

Jonatha Brooke - 'I'll Try'

Album: Return To Neverland OST

I'm sinking, always unconsciously at first, into memories of Welly, coming thick and fast, thicker and faster; more and more often lately.

I find myself avoiding certain songs as not to remember, fumbling desperately to change tracks to stop remembering. Kicking hard to propel myself upwards, to break through the surface of an ocean of rememberance.

What's wrong?

Monday, April 02, 2007

k.d. lang - 'So In Love'

Album: Red Hot + Blue

At the most unexpected of moments, I find myself remembering the most mundane of moments ... of a previous life.

One lived in Welly.

Asha Bhosle - 'Na Govinda'

Album: Mast OST

I don't know which is worse: the fact the that Singapore's International Film Festival sucks, or that I perpetually seem to be able to attend just three films every fucking year - and they are seldom, if ever, among my top three picks.

Sunday, April 01, 2007

Dominique - 'Tadap Tadap'

Album: Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam OST

Saturdays spent in activity, with company; Sundays, couch-potato-ing, alone.

I never seem to remember what I did on Sunday come Monday.
